Metal Objects2022-Present
-> Metalworking, 3-D ConstructionWhile Graphic Design usually entails projects that are for an audience, I use sculpture to explore my personal imaginations. All the sculptures I make are usable, which is really important to me as a pragmatic person, and as someone considering the labor and environmental impact gone into the production of the materials I use.
Stool for Thinking 20x20x22in
Steel

I created this stool with the intention of placing the human body in a position of thinking. The spirals on the feet and on the seat of the chair are an exploration of the ancient symbol. I am drawn to it because I think it represents the process of moving inward/outward, which is central to what it means to practice art.

Tag Bag 6x4.5x3in
Steel, Clothing tags

The fork and the spiral are used to overcome my aversions to traditional feminine objects. Through the process of creation I found power in the handbag and made it into something I want to use.

I collected the tags while I was working for artist Anindita Dutta during her residency at NXTHVN. I sewed them together, and attached them to the metal exo-skeleton I welded and forged.
